How to Open Terminal in macOS

The Terminal is a powerful command-line interface that allows you to interact with your macOS system using text-based commands. Here's how you can open the Terminal application on your Mac:

1. Opening Terminal from a Directory

If you want to open the terminal directly from a specific directory, you can follow these steps:

  • Open the Finder application.
  • Navigate to the desired directory.

  • Right-click on the directory and select Services from the context menu.
  • Choose New Terminal at Folder to open the terminal at that directory.

  • Ready to work!

  • Press Command + Space to open Spotlight Search.
  • Type "Terminal" in the search bar.
  • Click on the "Terminal" application when it appears in the search results.

3. Using Finder

  • Open a new Finder window.
  • Go to the "Applications" folder.
  • Scroll down or search for the "Utilities" folder and open it.
  • Look for the "Terminal" application and double-click on it.

4. Using Launchpad

  • Click on the Launchpad icon in the Dock.
  • Find the "Terminal" icon by swiping left or right, or by typing "Terminal" in the search bar at the top.

5. Using the Go Menu

  • Open a new Finder window.
  • In the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on Go

  • From the dropdown menu, select Utilities.

NOTE Once you've opened the Terminal, you can start entering commands and executing various tasks using the command-line interface.
